Blender is extremely stable on it's own, from what you showed you were doing layout in look dev view and your hardware probably cant handle that.
I used to use b3d on the cheapest oldest laptop I could find, I just regularly saved a new file for new progress and only did one task at time.

Oh it only happened to me once the other day and I am just salty about it. What you saw in the video was actually just me exiting out of the program and cutting it so that it looked like a crash. Yeah, I actually adore Blender, just feel like we have all lost hours of progress before whether it be Blender, flash, toonboom, or whatever you use. I really just chose blender for the dick gag. Appreciate the review.

[Captain Freeman's animation showcase]

I'd reccomend you practice some figure drawing and learn a bit of anatomy.
It wont change your style, but it will help you with keeping your proportions consistent and perspective. Windsor McKay who is known as one of the first animators said that was a regret he had, he learned the figure better.
The actual animation itself is definitely your strong suite!

it looked like you added a film grain filter or something, but it shifts really slow like 7 frames ? it should be every frame , and if shifting that fast looks too noisy reduce intensity.
beautiful style over all !
